Poker is a gambling game in which players try to make the best hand out of the cards they are dealt. This is usually done through betting, bluffing, or drawing.<\/p>\n
Each player is dealt five cards. One card is face up, and the remaining four cards are face down. Cards are then shuffled. Players may discard up to three cards.<\/p>\n
After the first round of betting, the turn is passed from one player to another. The player with the highest ranking poker combination wins the pot. If there are more than one player in contention, a showdown occurs.<\/p>\n
During the showdown, each player is able to see their own cards and the others. Players can check or raise. A raise is a bet made by a player that is higher than the previous bettor. Similarly, a check is a bet made by a bettor that is lower than the previous bettor.<\/p>\n
Depending on the variant of the game, players may be required to contribute to the pot before the deal. Often, the ante is the smallest bet a player can make. It is usually a dollar or $5.<\/p>\n
In some games, the ace is treated as the lowest card. This means that the lowest hand is a straight of aces, or a 6-4-3-2-A. These hands are also known as a “loose aggressive” or “LAG” hand.<\/p>\n
Usually, a full 52-card deck is used. However, in some games, an extra card, the Joker, is thrown into the deck.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
