Poker is a gambling game played with cards. It can be played with any number of players. However, the ideal number of players is 6-8. The rules of the game depend on the variant of the game.<\/p>\n
Each player is dealt five cards, either face up or face down. Players are allowed to discard up to three of these cards, but they are required to wager before doing so.<\/p>\n
If players have identical poker hands, the winner is the one with the highest unmatched card. In a tie, the highest unmatched fifth card is able to break the tie.<\/p>\n
Before dealing, the dealer shuffles the deck and then shuffles each player’s hand. Cards are then dealt to each player, starting from the player on the dealer’s left.<\/p>\n
Players can check, bet, raise or fold. When a player checks, he must make sure no other player has made a bet before him. He also must ensure that he does not owe anything to the pot.<\/p>\n
Players can also call, match, or raise the bet of their opponent. They can do so if they feel they have a good hand. But they cannot force another player to do so.<\/p>\n
After a hand has been dealt, the cards are revealed and a showdown takes place. Each player then shows his or her cards, and the highest hand wins the pot.<\/p>\n
