Poker is a game of chance played by a group of people around a table. A dealer deals cards to each player in turn. The best hand wins a pot of money.<\/p>\n
In order to win, a player must be able to show off a hand. This can be accomplished with the help of poker cards, poker chips, or some combination of the two.<\/p>\n
For instance, a “bluff” is a tactic in which a player makes a bet without using the cards in his or her hand. A poker hand is usually made up of five cards from a player’s hand, along with a single card from the community or “board” deck.<\/p>\n
During the course of a hand, players bet more and more. They may also opt to fold, which means that all of their cards are placed facedown on the table.<\/p>\n
An ante is a mandatory bet in the middle of the round. It’s generally a small amount, like $1 or $5.<\/p>\n
The flop is a set of three cards placed face-up after the initial round of betting. During the flop, a player may make a raise, which increases the amount of the pot.<\/p>\n
A showdown occurs when all of the action has been completed. Typically, the best hand is the one which contains the highest combination of cards from each player’s hand. If all players have a hand, the pot is split as evenly as possible.<\/p>\n
