The game of Poker involves betting between players who have a set number of chips to use. A player may choose to “call” a bet and remain in the pot until a showdown, or he may raise it. If the player cannot match or raise a previous raise, he must either fold (discard his hand) or drop out of the pot. In the latter case, he loses the chips that he put into the pot as well as any potential winnings from the showdown.<\/p>\n
Players start the game with a set number of poker chips, usually white and in different colors, each representing a certain amount. Typically, the smallest chip is worth one white; a red chip is worth five whites, and so on. Before dealing the cards, a player must place these chips into the pot by saying \u201ccall\u201d or \u201craise.\u201d<\/p>\n
After the players have received their two private cards, there is a round of betting started by 2 mandatory bets called blinds put in by the players to the left of the dealer. This is to give everyone an incentive to stay in the pot.<\/p>\n
After the betting round is complete, 5 more community cards are dealt face up on the table. This is known as the flop. Then, there is another round of betting.
